Public Domain Project The Public Domain Project is a open-minded (open to all persons) project for the conservation and utilization of Public Domain music and film material. It consists of the following projects: The Public Domain Pool, a free Music database of digitalized recordings The Public Domain Wiki, an Open content music encyclopedia that represent the full inventory of the Public Domain Pool includes all known information about a musical work. The Public Domain Radio that broadcasts the historical recordings as a Internet radio station. The Swiss Foundation Public Domain is the corporation of the Public Domain Project The Public Domain Project need your active participation and support! The Edison Disc, also known as a Diamond Disc record, was a type of audio disc record marketed by Edison Records from 1912 to 1929. V-Disc ("V" for Victory) was a morale-boosting initiative involving the production of several series of recordings during the World War II era by special arrangement between the United States government and various private U.S. record companies. The records were produced for the use of United States military personnel overseas.

PD Project news 18 June 2012 In Spring 2012 a collector donated us 35'000 78 rpm records that we have to clean, repackage in new sleeves, digitize and conserve for future generations. Now we own over 50'000 records, but only have a storage capacity of 15'000. It is very difficult to find sponsors in Switzerland for a non-profit cultural project, we do not have the money to rent another storage room itself. At the moment it's very important for our project to find an approx. 35 m2 storage room and maybe a sponsor that help us to finance new record sleeves and EURO-/RAKO-Polypropylen containers. 9 June 2012 First cylinder recordings are entered into the database. Free losless sound will available for free in the near future. Example: My Heart Has Learned To Love You performed by Henry Burr (1882-1941) recorded on a U.S. Everlasting cylinder. See also: Available sound files. 10 January 2012 With the Concerto No.1 in C major (op.15) of Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827) presents the PD Project the first complete work. 26 October 2011 The first FLAC digitized by the PD Project is the famous Trumpet voluntary of Jeremiah Clarke (1674-1707), which was previously incorrectly assigned to Henry Purcell (1659-1695).
